IDRIS
IDRIS ABBAS-SADEK
Idris is the main character of INNOVA Galactic Enterprises. He is an anti-innova dissenter who is driven by guilt and anger. He believes it is his duty to destroy the company and reconcile for who he was.
Idris was the clone of Kiera Abbas-Sadek, the head scientist of QuantumTec, a subsidiary of Innova. He was Capith, the historically powerful caste, and was born into wealth. He was shaped into a beloved celebrity and mascot for the company’s propaganda and was known for being kind and charitable.
When Idris was a teenager, his mother disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and Idris was told she had tried to sabotage the company and was a traitor. Idris was left with his grandparents and Jona.
In his mid 20s, Idris began to grow tired of his role as a company propaganda machine. And when the company decides to sacrifice him and make him a martyr, he escaped to a community in an old mining outpost called Caldera where his long lost uncle lived.
He experienced years of abuse for his unknowing role in propaganda and his caste. This abuse hardened him and made him push everyone away. His only goal is to make up for his existence and then finally find peace through death.
POSTER BOY
Idris’ carefully curated image appeared on everything from corporate patriotism propaganda to product advertisements. His perfect image and charismatic personality was meant to inspire loyalty and support for the company and its subsidiaries. However, every aspect of his life was carefully controlled and scripted.
Though loved by many and despite his philanthropy and advocacy for caste equality, caste activists viewed him as a symbol of Capith eliteism, and Innova critics viewed him as manipulative.
Though Idris is always seen smiling in his public appearances, he is rarely genuinely happy. He simply does what he is told “for the good of the company.” He knows he is just a tool for them, but he doesn’t think it is possible to be anything else.
BROKEN
Idris tracked down his uncle and found him in the town Caldera on the planet Kihred. The community was Vilith and Medietith majority and most were hostile towards Capiths, especially Idris, who they saw as a symbol of their oppression. He is seen as ignorant and privileged, and goes through endless lecturing, shaming, and humiliation. The rough treatment is justified as “humbling” him and “educating” him, but it isolates and marginalizes Idris, making him very mentally unwell. In this stage he is very submissive to those he believes are morally superior and has lost all pride and dignity. He hates himself and wishes he was born into a different family and different caste so he could be redeemable. He relies on Matt a lot, who is his only friend.
Over a few years he adjusts to his new community, regaining some dignity and purpose. He is treated more like an equal, or at least someone that learned his lesson.
Though appearing more composed, he is not mentally healed. And though he does now have a place in the community, he is still not taken seriously.
He is focused on the single goal of bringing down the company, leaving no room for personal wants or goals. He prefers to be alone and does not get close to people, not even Matt anymore.
If the revolution is successful, Idris plans to end his life afterwards, believing he will have repaid his debt and can finally end his pain.
